In a warm-up fixture ahead of Rugby World Cup 2007 New Zealand played host to Canada in Hamilton. Fullback Mike Pyke gave the hosts a frieght by running 90 metres to complete an intercept try. The teams have met once since this match, a pool fixture in Rugby World Cup 2011 in Wellington. Capped 22 times by Canada Pyke ended his international career in 2008 to move to Australia to play Australian Rules (AFL). He did so after having previously played in both Scotland and France as a professional rugby player.
