A non-capped and non-televised international match took place in Colonia, Uruguay on Wednesday evening with fringe players from Argentina and Fiji being given the opportunity to press for World Cup selection. With professional club competitions yet to be completed neither country has access to leading players and for this reason Fiji is touring as the 'A' team rather than the senior side. The visitors performed well in Uruguay winning 23-21 in a match featuring three tries per team. Some feeble Argentine defense could be said to have played a large part in all of Fiji's tries and a number of potential World Cup players could indeed play no further part in the selection process as a result. Facundo Isa, Tomás Lezana and Santiago Iglesias Valdez crossed for the Argentina XV's tries while Santiago González Iglesias added the extras.
