Retro Friday: Jeff Hassler scores twice in first test start for Canada

Photo South Wales Evening Post
In his first test match start for Canada Jeff Hassler made a statement which has seen him become Canada's leading back. Playing right wing v Russia Hassler ran in two tries and also set up fellow winger Taylor Paris for another try. The match was played in Colwyn Bay, Wales in November 2012 and was Hassler's first start. His prior tests were against the USA and Georgia in June of that year and a test the prior week against Samoa also in Colwyn Bay. The starting back-three against Russia was Hassler, Paris and James Pritchard. The same combination is a strong possibility of playing for Canada together at this year's Rugby World Cup. Canada will play in Pool D against Europeans France, Ireland, Italy and Romania.
