Considered as one of the greatest ever USA centres Paul Emerick had a colorful career for his country and also at club level. He was capped 53 times with his fina cap being the memorable 34-3 win over Romania in Bucharest in 2012. As a professional he played in all of Italy, Wales, Northern Ireland and England over a period spanning eight years from 2004-2012. In the opening match of his third Rugby World Cup Emerick scored a final minute try for the USA in a match in which Ireland was unable to score a bonus point. The North American colleted an intercept to score under the posts. Emerick retired from rugby in August 2013 after failing to completely recover from an ankle injury.
