Photo Rugby Redefined
The USA is to be represented in South America in international sevens competition over the coming weekends. With there being a two-month interval in the World Sevens Series USA Rugby has opted to send a developmental team termed the USA Falcons to Argentina and Chile. The team has been referred to as the USA's emerging-elite side of the USA Men's Eagles Sevens program with coach Mike Friday looking to build depth and experience for the Sevens World Series Squad. Later on this year the USA Sevens team will be chasing a medal at the Pan American Games which will take place in Toronto, Canada in July.

The Falcons are currently in Mar del Plata, Argentina preparing the international competition to be played third Saturday and Sunday. It is to be quickly followed up by a second event, this time in Viña del Mar, Chile taking place on the following weekend. Both the USA and Canada are involved with the respective teams utilizing the South American events to test players and remain active before the Wellington Sevens.

Named in the Falcons are veteran players Pat Blair, Zach Pangelinan, Mike Teo and Steve Tomasin. Of them Blair has been a regular for the USA Sevens side this season albeit predominantly as a replacement. Pangelinan is back from domestic duty while both Teo and Tomasin have been given great opportunities after both have been in the senior squad but unable to acquire significant game time.

Of the remaining squad members there is a notable selection for Will Holder who previously started a test match at fly half for the USA in 2012. The 23 year old started against Canada before being a replacement against Georgia and Houston.  He is one of two players from the Army, the other being Ben Leatigaga.
