Argentine Sevens coach Pablo Goméz Cora has named a strong squad for the upcoming Seven de Mar del Plata which will be played in the Argentine beach resort city on Saturday January 10 and Sunday January 11. Familiar names from the World Sevens Circuit, including some Pampas XV players, have been included as the record try scorer looks to prepare his players for the remainder of the season which will include Rugby Sevens tournaments in Wellington, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Glasgow and London in addition to the Pan American Games in Toronto in July.

The tournament will not serve any purpose for the Argentine side other than preparation for further international competition in 2015. While there are two qualification spots on the line for the 2015 Pan American Games Argentina has already secured its participation. Argentina is to play against an Invitational XV in addition to the USA Falcons and Canada Maple Leafs.

Playing for spots in Toronto are Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela. The six countries will play one-another with the top two securing their places in the Pan American Games. Argentina will,. however, be involved in the women's division and will be competing against Chile, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela for one of two spots in Toronto.
