In the latest video produced by World Rugby the global governing body of rugby identifies players who topped the try scoring lists in the year 2014. The list includes two players from South America, Manuel Montero of Argentina and Sebastián Mejía of Colombia. Montero scored seven tries and Mejía ten. Only All Black Julian Savea scored more than Mejía with eleven but he played an additional ten test matches. The list underlines the extensive importance of South American rugby to the global game. World Rugby can embrace this by backing Argentina to host Rugby World Cup 2023. The Americas is the only region yet to be allocated hosting rights to a Rugby World Cup but it has two of the seven players listed in the following video.
