Canada lost 23-13 against Samoa on Friday evening in Vannes, France. Considering results between the sides and the IRB World Ranking, which has Samoa in 11th and Canada in 17th, Samoa was expected to win and, arguably, by a bigger margin. The two tries to one result saw Samoa hold off a spirited Canadian team and one that had an opportunity of winning the fixture. The Canadians appeared set to score first in the 55th minute only for scrumhalf Gord McRorie to knock-on a simple try. With the opportunity missed Canada was made to pay as Samoa scored shortly thereafter. Canada's one try was scored by Conor Trainor while James Pritchard landed the conversion and McRorie kicked two penalties. Canada will face Romania next weekend in Bucharest while Samoa travel to London to face England.
