Nineteen of the twenty spots at Rugby World Cup 2015 have been determined which leaves just the Final Place Play-Off. This Saturday will see the start of a two match home and away series between Russia and Uruguay with the winner, on aggregate, securing the final spot at the tournament. Uruguay played at Rugby World Cups 1999 and 2003 while Russia played in Rugby World Cup 2011. Should Russia qualify the same twenty teams from 2011 would be those at England and Wales 2015.
The match will be streamed live courtesy of rugbyworldcup.com and can be seen by clicking here. Due to the match being played not in Europe but in Northern Asia the game is to begin at 4am Uruguayan time. It is to be a 4pm kick-off local time and 8am GMT.
Uruguay had complications in arriving in Krasnoyarsk due to a Paris bound flight being cancelled. Los Teros therefore were forced to leave a day late and therefore lose a day of preparation time in France ahead of flying to Siberia.
The teams last played in June with Uruguay completing a 13-6 win in Romania. The match was a part of the IRB Nations Cup and Uruguay's win came despite the team being without a number of regular players. Prior to that Russia had won matches against Uruguay in 2009, 2010 and 2012 while Uruguay won a match in 2008.
This weekends match, however, is to be the first of its kind as never before have Uruguay and Russia faced-off in a Rugby World Cup qualification match. The all important match will be followed by a return fixture in Montevideo two weeks later. The winner, on aggregate, will qualify as the Play-Off Winner and enter Pool A which features Australia, England, Fiji and Wales.
