Retro Friday: Manuel Montero scores to defeat France

Argentine left winger Manuel Montero first made an impression at the IRB Junior World Cup. Many had nonetheless not seen him play before Argentina's home series in June 2012. With former coach Santiago Phelan not having access to professionals in the Rugby Championship squad Monterostarted in both tests against France. Trailing late in the first test Montero crossed for a 76th minute try which gave Argentina a 23-20 win. Set to earn his sixteenth cap against Australia tomorrow Montero has a return of 13 tries in 15 appearances. Argentina's other starting winger, Juan Imhoff, has scored 12 in 21 tests. By way of comparison those missing out have not been able to score with such regularity. Lucas González Amorosno has 6 from 36 tests and Horacio Agulla 4 from 54. The injured Gonzalo Camacho has a return of 6 tries from 23 tests.
