Trailing 24-6 at half time Argentina was in need of an early try in the 2007 Semi Final against South Africa. In the third minute of the second half outside centre Manuel Contepomi went over for a try to give Los Pumas a chance. Upon touching down there were questions over the grounding which saw TMO Tony Spreadbury called upon to clear the try. The eighteen pint gap became eleven with Felipe Contepomi's conversion. During his career Manuel Contepomi earned thirty-eight test caps, playing in three Rugby World Cups. His twin brother, Felipe is the most capped Puma of all time and played in four World Cups. Manuel's final cap came five days after the Semi Final as Argentina secured third place by winning the 2007 Bronze Final against France.
