The professional playing future of Argentine outside back Lucas González Amorosino has been confirmed. Having previously played for Leicester in the Aviva Premiership and for Montpellier and Oyonnax in the Top 14 González Amorosino is now to complete the European triple by playing in the Guinness Pro 12. The twenty-eight year old has signed a contract to play the 2014-2015 season in Wales for the Cardiff Blues. He will therefore have a full season of elite level rugby under him before Rugby World Cup 2015 and the possibility will subsequently exist of him then playing for the Argentine Super Rugby franchise.

With Argentina preparing to host Australia in Mendoza many players are doing so with foreign clubs very much interested in their services. One such player is Lucas González Amorosino who, having played in the first four matches of the tournament, is now set to move to Wales. The wing / fullback started against South Africa in Salta and New Zealand in Napier and acted as a replacement v South Africa in Pretoria and Australia on the Gold Coast.

González Amorosino was also involved in the home internationals in June after he left Oyonnax in time to link up with Daniel Hourcade's understrength squad. He scored a try in the second test against Ireland in Tucumán and also crossed for a try against Chile in the CONSUR Cup in May. Prior to that his previous test try was the match-winning score against Scotland in Rugby World Cup 2011 which was, arguably, the try of the tournament.

The style of play of the Cardiff Blues, and Welsh rugby in general, would appear to be well suited to González Amorosino. His flair saw him being a highly important player for Montpellier and he could be well suited to either wing or fullback at Cardiff. The team's star fullback Leigh Halfpenny is now at Toulon but wing may be the better option for the Blues given the arrival of New Zealander Gareth Anscombe and the fact that Alex Cuthbert is the team's only notable winger.

The playing future of a number of other Pumas is expected to be determined in the coming weeks and even days. Strong rumours reported by ESPN Scrum in Argentina indicate that Manuel Montero and Joaquín Tuculet are to play Super Rugby in 2015 while former Welsh based player Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro is in line to join Lyon in the Top 14. Also rumoured to be moving to France is Bruno Postiglioni who has been suggested as joining Perpignan in a move which would see him playing in the Pro d2.
