The second round of matches in the 2014 South American B Championship took place this afternoon in Colombia. With Colombia and Venezuela both backing up their opening round wins on Sunday they are now set to dispute the competition final on Saturday. Ecuador and Peru are also to be in action on Saturday as they look to avoid the wooden spoon. Of the four Ecuador is the only that is not a full IRB member. As such it is not a part of the IRB World Rankings. Colombia is 60th, Venezuela 65th and Peru 74th.
Venezuela 68-3 Ecuador
In the opening match of the day Venezuela demonstrated its superiority against last year's CONSUR C champions, Ecuador. The first ever test match between the countries saw the more traditional Venezuela completing its second biggest victory of all time. The sixty-five point difference was second only to Venezuela's 70-0 win over Costa Rica in 2006.
Colombia 56-6 Peru
Having defeated Ecuador 112-0 on Sunday Colombia edged closer to a South American B title on home soil. The Tucanos were dominant again against Peru in winning by fifty points and not conceeding a try. Peru will now be looking to bounce back after it narrowly lost against Venezuela and defeat Ecuador in the final round.
