Prior to the Rugby Championship questions had been raised over the ability of Argentina to deliver a quality scrum. With Juan Figallo and Maximilano Bustos both injured headcoach Daniel Hourcade opted to start a test debutant in 2014 and Ramiro Herrera has proven to be a superior operator in the scrums than that of his South African opponents. In Salta on Saturday Herrera joined Marcos Ayerza and captain Agustín Creevy in a trio which was far too strong for the number two ranked team in the world. Creevy's involvement comes after previous coach, Santiago Phelan, considered him not good enough in the set-piece and selected Eusebio Guiñazú instead. Thus far Creevy's performances demonstrate that the previous coach made crucial errors in selection.
