Tbilisi Cup: Los Jaguares Squad Announced

Photo Norte Rugby
The director of the High Performance Program (PladAR) has confirmed a list of twenty-six players to represent Argentina in this month's IRB Tbilisi Cup, a four team competition taking place in Georgia. Involved are to be the test sides of Georgia and Spain in addition to the A teams of both Argentina and Italy. Those playing in Argentine colors will do so not as Los Pumas but as Los Jaguares. The tournament will be played from June 8-24 and will provide all four participating countries with a crucial opportunity of developing players for the future.

With the Argentine official test side, Los Pumas, playing both Ireland and Scotland this month the players named in the squad for the Tbilisi Cup are to miss out on international duty in capped matches. As such Daniel Hourcade's team which had Francisco Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro training yesterday at tighthead prop is likely to be different with either Matías Díaz or Ramiro Herrera starting on the right side of the front-row.

Tetaz Chaparro is one of a number of notable players named in the Los Jaguares squad. Others with experience playing professional rugby in Europe in the squad include Nahuel Lobo, Facundo Isa and Juan Pablo Socino. All four remain in contention for international duty but are not likely to be a part of the Rugby Championship unless required to replace an injured player.

Two players popular with Hourcade to have also made the Los Jagures squad are Tomás Carrío and Javier Rojas (pictured). The inclusion of both in the Los Jaguares squad and not the Puma June squad firmly suggests that Argentina has depth in their positions. The likes of Manuel Montero, Santiago Cordero, Lucas González Amorosino, Joaquín Tuculet, Jerónimo De la Fuente and Gabriel Ascárate and all to feature for Los Pumas.
