The United States of America hosted Japan in Los Angeles on Saturday night in what was the second of two test matches for the Japanese in North America. In defeating Canada 34-25 Japan headed to California knowing that a win would be sufficient to qualify for the Pacific Nations Cup final to be played later in the year against the winner of the southern division - Fiji, Samoa or Tonga. Japan proved to be more clinical in completing an away victory but the USA managed to play some good rugby with Cam Dolan scoring and Blaine Scully crossing for a hat-trick. Both players are based in England and are proving to be important members of the squad. The USA and Japan are to meet again in Rugby World Cup 2015. Should their match this weekend be anything to go by then it is to be a must see fixture for all serious rugby supporters.
