For the first time since 2009 the USA Eagles came out on top in an international rugby match against northern neighbors, Canada. The 38-35 thriller in Sacramento, California featured nine tries with Blaine Scully backing-up on his hat-trick against Japan by scoring a double. Canadian fly half Harry Jones also crossed for two tries and had a solid match in general as he broke the line and linked well with his runners. Despite their being impressive tries scored by both teams it was the collectivity of both sides that was the central feature of the contest. A sold-out Bonney Field crowd of 7,804 were treated to a reminder of the core values of rugby as players put their bodies on the line for the cause and those in attendance went away with lasting memories. Home town hero Lou Stanfill and captain Todd Clever put in some of their best ever performances in test match rugby.
