In a match very reminiscent of the first test in Resistencia Ireland proved to be too strong for a depleted Pumas side and in completing a 23-17 victory in Tucumán on Saturday. The result is a first ever series triumph for the Europeans in Argentina but given the lack of a global season Argentina was in fact in no position to take on the 2014 Six Nations Champions with a true test side. With Daniel Hourcade missing European based players already confirmed to be playing in the Rugby Championship and others to be named later Argentina hosted Ireland with a team almost entirely made up of domestic based players. Of those facing the Irish a number performed well and, unlike in June 2013, Argentina delivered a game plan that created opportunities and could enable Argentina to achieve victories over higher ranked countries when those based abroad return to boost the squad.
