Los Pumas completed their preparation for the home internationals against Ireland and Scotland in June by hosting at defeating a South American composite team in Santa Fé. The non-televised match saw the Argentine side completing a 40-0 victory over a team consisting of players from Argentina in edition to a host of CONSUR member nations. The performance of Los Pumas demonstrated collectivity and progress as Daniel Hourcade is searching for a way to build a team in short time ahead of Rugby World Cup 2015 in England and Wales.

Played at the Club CRAI in Santa Fé  the home side impressed by scoring six tries to zero to remain undefeated in 2014. Similar Pumas sides were used by Hourcade in the recent CONSUR Cup which saw Argentina retain its status as the champion of South America.

Against the South American invitational XV players set to face Ireland next weekend crossed for tries. Twenty year old Santiago Cordero crossed for the opening score of the match and did so on the twenty minute mark. It was converted by Nicolás Sánchez who also converted Argentina's second try scored by fullback Joaquín Tuculet in the final minutes of the opening half.

Similar to the first half it took quite some time for points to be scored in the second. Replacement fly half Santiago González Iglesias landed the conversion and would converted one more later in the half. Replacement prop Bruno Postiglioni enforced his case to be included in the squad to face Ireland as he scored two second half tries while González Iglesias and Manuel Montero both scored one each.

Argentina is to play an official test match next Saturday against Ireland in Resistencia. It is the first of six home test matches this year and all matches are to be played in different cities as the UAR continues to spread home matches throughout the country in an effort to grow the game. Such a policy is of great interest for hosting a Rugby World Cup as it is actively preparing potential host cities for the biggest tournament in the sport.
