Los Pampas XV coaches Martín Gaitán and Raúl Pérez have announced a much changed team to face Gen Blue in the Pacific Rugby Cup on Friday. The match is to be a round two fixture of the IRB competition being played in Australia.

The Pampas XV starting lineup for the fixture will feature a total of six changes from the side that defeated Brumbies A in Canberra on Sunday. The Argentine team emerged from the match in good shape and will now face the A team of Super Rugby´s New South Wales Waratahs whom Los Pampas XV defeated 57-12 in a Pacific Cup warm-up fixture on Saturday February 22 in Sydney.

Changes to the starting lineup for the Pacific Cup match see Javier Ortega Desio and Antonio Ahualli de Chazal starting in the back-row ahead of Facundo Isa and Rodrigo Baez which means only Tomás de La Vega will retain a starting spot in the back-row.  He will be playing behind an unchanged second-row which sees Matías Alemanno and Tomás Lavanini retain their positions. The front-row is also unchanged with Matías Cortese joining Bruno Postiglioni and Lucas Noguera Paz.

Gaitán and Pérez have made four changes to the starting backline including a new 9-10 combination. Tomás Cubelli  replaced Martín Landajo and takes over the captaincy while Santiago González Iglesias is handed the fly half position in place of the star against the Brumbies, Patricio Fernández. Javier Rojas will also miss out with his spot being taken by Jerónimo de La Fuente while Román Miralles replaces Santiago Cordero. The impresseive winger Manuel Montero and Matías Orlando retain their places.

The changes represent a combination or rotating players and a reflection of the big win recorded against the same side in February. A win for the Argentine side would see it go top of the pool and do so with a game in hand. The match is to be played at 1am Argentine time at the David Philips Field in Sydney.

  1. Los Pampas 15 could be the real deal. They just gave Gen Blues a smack, and that team had some regular Warratahs thrown in!

Beware Spanish speaking rugby players always eating beef and bragging about good looking their birds are!
