Pumas defeated England in Salta
Similar to in 2012 and 2013 Argentina´s three home matches in the Rugby Championship this year are to be spread across three different cities in different parts of the country. The UAR has now confirmed where the All Blacks, Springboks and Wallabies will be playing their away tests in the Rugby Championship. The big winner is the northern city of Salta which replaces Rosario for the 2014 competition.
Salta is a city which has performed well in the past when hosting rugby fixtures such as tests against England in 2009 and 2013. It is also a tourist attraction of historical significance. The Estadio Padre Martearena will host the first of three Rugby Championship tests in Argentina and as occurred in 2012 and 2013 the first country playing in Argentina will be South Africa.
The Pumas v Springboks test match will be played in the afternoon due to the time difference between Argentina and South Africa. It will kick-off at 4:10pm and be played on Saturday August 23. It is a round two match with South Africa hosting Argentina seven days earlier in Pretoria.
After playing New Zealand in Napier and Australia on the Gold Coast Los Pumas will play host to the same two sides in Argentina. The round five match will see Argentina facing New Zealand in La Plata on Saturday September 27 while Australia will play in Argentina seven days later on October 5. Both matches are to be played at friendly viewing hours for New Zealanders and Australians. The time of Argentina v New Zealand is yet to be announced but Australians match in Mendoza has been confirmed for 7:40pm local time.
