Brazil is to continue its preparation for the South American Championship this weekend as it plays its second warm-up fixture ahead of the continental competition. Brazil will be taking on a regional side from Argentina, Nordeste. The match is to be played on Sunday in São José dos Campos.
The South American Championship is to begin on April 26 with Brazil hosting Chile in São Paulo and Paraguay hosting Uruguay in Asunción. To prepare for the tournament Brazil is to host Nordeste, a team representing the Argentine provinces of Chaco and Corrientes. Nordeste plays in the second division of the Campeonato Argentino.
It is not to be the first match between the sides. Brazil faced Nordeste in 2011 with the Argentine side winning 27-17 in Encarnación, Paraguay. This weekends fixture will be will be broadcast live in Brazil on Sportv.
CONSUR has not yet publicly released the match schedule for the South American Championship but there are nonetheless irrefutable sources which indicate that the tournament is to be played in late April and early June. The dates for Brazil´s three matches are to be April 26, May 3 and May 10.
A number of players involved in the match for Brazil are not expected to be in the South American Championship. Indeed as was the case in November against Portugal the side is missing a number of regulars who are involved in the Sevens team.
