|John Moonlight impressed in 2013|
The Canadian squad features a number of familiar faces to followers of the senior Canadian test side. First choice openside flanker John Moonlight is included as is regular squad member Nanyak Dala who played at Rugby World Cup 2011. Both Moonlight and Dala are strong candidates to represent Canada at England and Wales 2015.
Moonlight will captain the side which also includes veteran Justin Douglas and regular Canadian international backs Harry Jones, Phil Mack and Conor Trainor. Also included is former professional fly half Connor Braid as well as Mike Scholz, Sean Ferguson, Duncan Maguire, Jordan Wilson-Ross and Sean White. Wilson-Ross will make his first appearance in the HSBC World Series.
Missing to injury are a total of seven players including Rugby World Cup 2011 players Ciaran Hearn, Nathan Hirayama and Adam Kleeberger. All could play again in 2015 and are likely to feature in June with Canada facing Japan, Scotland and the USA in North America. They will be looking to return for the remaining legs of the circuit as competition for a place in the Canadian tet side is heating up as the combination of Rugby Sevens exposure and more players based abroad has resulted in Canada having more depth on offer for quite some time.
In Las Vegas Canada will come up against three respected opponents in the form of Kenya, South Africa and 2009 World Champions Wales. It will do so with a squad featuring players from three of the four sides that will compete in the 2014 Canadian Rugby Championship.
