Twenty-two year old Argentine loosehead prop Nahuel Lobo is on his way back to France after being signed for a second time by Top 14 club Montpellier. Lobo is to play for the club as a medical joker in place of the injured Na´ama Leleimalefaga who appears to be out for the remainder of the season.
Having signed for Newcastle Lobo was set to play in the Aviva Premiership at the end of the Rugby Championship. Instead he remained clubless due to visa complications but will now join up with two other Pumas props in the form of Maximilano Bustos and Juan Figallo. Bustos has been getting plenty of game time this season while Figallo is yet to play but is set to return in February.
Lobo is the second PladAR member to be leaving Argentina for Europe after Tucumán back-rower Benjamín Macome signed for Stade Français earlier this month. Macome will return to Argentina in time to play ni the June internationals against Ireland and Scotland but the availability of Lobo remains uncertain for the time being.
Both players featured as replacements in the 2013 Rugby Championship and are strong contenders to retain their places in 2014 and to also be included in the Argentine squad for Rugby World Cup 2015. Lobo has been capped a total of ten times. He had his debut against France in Lille in November 2012 as a replacement and is yet to start a test match.
