Luke Hume signs for Narbonne

Luke Hume will now play professional rugby in France
Promising twenty-five year old USA Eagles winger Luke Hume will be playing the remainder of the 2013-2014 season in France for second division side Narbonne. An announcement was made in France this morning.

The thirteen time capped Eagles winger was close to joining Aviva Premiership side Gloucester earlier this season. He impressed while there on a trial playing for the Gloucester A side but was unable to pick up a contract. Now, though, he has secured a professional deal and will be playing for Narbonne in the Pro d2.

His arrival is as a medical joker to replace the injured Christopher Ruiz who is out for the remainder of the season. Hume aims to lock down a starting place and remain at the club on a permanent basis. He has a lot to play for with the club currently sitting in fifth position and a strong chance of reaching the Semi Finals. With the top side automatically being promoted to the Top 14 the teams that finish between second and fifth contest the second place. Narbonne completed a crucial home victory over Pro d2 leaders Lyon yesterday.

Hume made his international debut for the USA against Canada in June 2012 and has been in the team permanently since then. He scored a try on debut and also crossed against Japan in the 2013 Pacific Nations Cup. Hume was involved in the USA´s away victories over Romania and Georgia in the past two autumn international windows and has also been involved in defeating Russia. Hume has also played Sevens for the USA.
