A match to test the depth of Canadian rugby saw the North Americans com up short as a late penalty gave the home side the win. Romania´s hard-fought victory was tryless and set up a possible perfect home series after Romania upset Tonga and is set to take on Samoa next weekend. The Canadians were unlucky not only due to scoring the games two tries but also due to not having a number of players including Jamie Cudmore, Aaron Carpenter, Ray Barkwill, Jason Marshall, Liam Underwood, DTH van der Merwe and Doug Wooldridge. With Canada having been beaten by Georgia the pressure was on the Oaks to perform well due to Georgia now being regarded as the strongest European rugby nation outside of the Six Nations. Both Georgia and Romania are expected to join Canada as qualifying members of Rugby World Cup 2015. It will be confirmed next March in the European zone of qualification with the two Eastern Europeans looking like finishing in the top two. As a result of the match Canada did not fall in the IRB World Rankings but Romania traded places with Georgia.
