USA to host Scotland in Houston in June 2014

While the national men´s USA rugby team, the USA Eagles, is yet to depart for the 2013 European tour the governing body has confirmed that the BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston Texas will host the biggest home international for the third consecutive year. 

The USA´s home match against Scotland this past June featured the largest crowd ever recorded in the USA for a rugby match. 20,181 were in attendance for the USA v Ireland and almost saw the USA Eagles complete the greatest ever win in the history of USA rugby. The North Americans did not conceede a try but were out kicked as the Irish held on to win by three points.

Following on from the success which was also felt in 2012, when the USA attracted another big crowd in Houston for the June international against Italy, the governing body has decided to go ahead and have the BBVA Compass Stadium host Scotland in 2014. It is to be one of the only home tests in the USA for the year and it remains unknown who else will be playing on U.S. soil.

Before June the USA will face Uruguay home and away in Rugby World Cup qualification matches in March. USA \rugby is yet to confirm the location for the home fixture. The USA played home matches against Canada and Tonga in the 2013 Pacific Nations Cup based faced both Japan and Fiji in Japan. Venues for the 2014 competition are yet to be confirmed.

Scotland is expected to confirm a test against Canada and one in Argentina to mirror Italy´s 2012 June tour. In addition to hosting Scotland Argentina is scheduled to host two tests against Ireland. The USA v Scotland will be played on June 7 2014 with Canada thus likely to host Scotland on June 14 and Argentina to do so on the weekend of June 21.
