Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe Out for Two or Three Months

Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe will not play again in 2013
Argentina´s worst fears have been realized with confirmation coming out of France that Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe requries surgery to repair his fractured elbow and faces two or three months out of the game. Daniel Hourcade squad announcement for Argentina´s tests against England, Italy and Wales is therefore to be made without Corcho.

Argentina now needs to quickly find a replacement back-rower and also name a new captain. Options to join Juan Manuel Leguizamón and Pablo Matera in the back-row can be found both in Argentina and abroad. The pair started with Leonardo Senatore during the opening two rounds of the 2013 Rugby Championship while Benjamín Macome was a replacement. Julio Farías Cabello may be used in the back-row too or Daniel Hourcade could select either or both or Tomás Leonardí and Tomás De La Vega. Leonardí is now playing for Edinburgh in Scotland while De La Vega won the URBA Top 14 Final on Saturday.

With Juan Figallo also injured and Patricio Albacete having led the coup d´etat which removed Santiago Phelan there are not too many options. Albacete is the ideal person to take over the captaincy but the UAR would never allow it after what unfolded. Other veterans would not appear to have the credentials and for this reason the favorite to lead Argentina may therefore be Agustín Creevy.
