Esteban Lozada joins London Wasps

The professional career of Argentine international secondrower Esteban Lozada was unknown at the end of the 2012-2013 season. His French club, Agen was relegated from the Top 14 due to it finishing in thirteenth position. It joined Mont de Marsan in dropping down to the Pro d2. Lozada was fortunate to have got plenty of game time for Agen which enabled him to represent Argentina in June and now confirm he will be staying in Europe for the 2013-2014 season. Lozada confirmed on his twitter account that he has signed a one year deal with Aviva Premiership club the London Wasps

Lozada has played twenty-two tests for Argentina and was a member of the Pumas squad that finished third in Rugby World Cup 2007. He missed out on selection for Rugby World Cup 2011 but represented his coutnry in June 2012 and June 2013. After Rugby World Cup 2007 he began his professional carrer by playing in France for Toulon and in 2010 he moved to Scotland to play for Edinburgh in the Rabo Direct Pro 12. After two years he returned to France to join Agen and now he is to play in the Aviva Premiership in the British capital. His debut at test level came in 2006 against England in the famous win at Twickenham.

  1. Problem with Lozada is he is too lightweight. Makes tackles and lineouts, but is useless in the tight work in rucks, mauls and scrums.

    The difference between Lozada (107kg) alongside a converted back rower Farias Cabello (110kg) compared weight the front row get supported by with Carizza (118kg) and Albacete (122kg) was felt in the scrums against England.

    Argentina went into the England matches without a proper enforcer at lock.

  2. If he had a career like this weighing 107 kg´s imagine how far he would go with 10 more kg´s!
