Guillermo Roán trades Cavalieri Prato for Rovigo

Guillermo Roán takes the ball forward against England

After having featured for Argentina at test level last month Guillermo Roán has confirmed that he has completed a transfer from Cavalieri Prato to Italian rivals Rovigo. The move will see the Pumas loosehead prop continue to play in the Italian domestic championship, the Campionato Nazionale Eccellenza.

Roán was recalled by Santiago Phelan for the June 2013 internationals against England and Georgia after he had previously made a total of four appearances for Argentina in the South American Championship. Roán´s debut came in 2009 against Chile and the same year he also faced Uruguay. In 2010 he would play the same two sides but he would have to wait until 2013 to earn his fifth test cap. Roán was a replacement for Argentina´s first test against England in Salta and he replaced Pablo Henn. He then started the second test in Buenos Aires and was also Argentina´s starting loosehead prop against Georgia in San Juan.

Roán is very young and still only aged 25 he could well be used in the future at international level. His selection for the 2013 internationals were due to the non-availability of loosehead props Marcos Ayerza,  Nahuel Lobo and Juan Figallo. The three join Juan Pablo Orlandi and Matías Díaz as the props in Argentina´s squad for the 2013 Rugby Championship.
