Despite there having been very strong indications that Argentina´s upcoming friendly matches against Australian Super Rugby side the Waratahs would be played in Resistencia and Salta a late change has seen one of the two matches shifted to a different venue. Earlier today the UAR confirmed that the first of the two matches will be played at La Plata Rugby club in the city of La Plata and not in Resistencia. The second remains in Salta and it is to be a first opportunity for Los Pumas tighthead prop Juan Figallo to play for his country in his home town.
The official dates and kick-off times have been confirmed with La Plata hosting the first match on Saturday August 3 and Salta the second on Friday August 9. The kick-off time for the La Plata match is to be 3:40pm local time while the second is to be an evening match with a kick-off time of 8:10pm. The two match series is similar to that played in 2012 in which Argentina hosted Top 14 club Stade Français in ahead of the 2012 Rugby Championship. The matches took place in Buenos Aires and Santa Fé.
Like in 2012 the matches do not count towards test caps and there will be room for more replacement players than is allocated under test match laws. Aas such the Pumas teams are likely to consist of thirty players rather than twenty-three.
