Juan Cruz Guillemaín signs new two year contract with Stade Français

Juan Cruz Guillemaín to stay in
Paris for two more years.

While there are Argentine players leaving France to play elsewhere one player who is staying is Juan Cruz GuillemaínIn an interview with Argentine site ESPN Scrum, Guillemaín talked about his season and about his future. Having signed on for a further two years with Stade Français Guillemaín´s development is in good hands. With Patricio Albacete now into his thirties Rugby World Cup 2015 will almost certainy be his last. Following the tournament Argentina will likely be looking for fresh blood and with Guillemaín emerging as a prospect the transition could be smoother than was the case following the retirements of key players following Rugby World Cup 2007.

As one of Argentina´s young, up and coming players who could go on to start for Los Pumas in Rugby World Cup 2015, Guillemaín´s new contract is music to the ears of global rugby fans. At just twenty years of age the Los Pumitas secondrower already has a season in France behind him and has a great future ahead of him as Argentina push towards a successful campaign in England 2015. While there is still two years of international rugby to play before the World Cup there is not much time to spare as it is becoming increasingly clear which players will and will not be in the frame for the tournament. In the second row position Argentina has a number of professionals such as Albacete, Manuel Carizza, Tomás Vallejos Cinalli, Esteban Lozada and Julio Farías Cabello. All played for Argentina in 2012 with some, arguarbly, getting game time ahead of the injured Mariano Galarza.

Guillemaín was involved in Argentina´s tour of Wales, France and Ireland in November 2012 but he did not recieve any game time. His selection was with an eye to the future and possibly for him to feature in June 2013 when the likes of Albacete and Carizza are certain to be rested ahead of the Rugby Championship. Just who wll play in the secondrow against England and Georgia next month will soon become clearer as Santiago Phelan is set to announce Argentina´s squad for the June internationals. The name Guillemaín may not be on the list due to him having injured his rib while playing for Stade Français in the round 26 match against Biarritz.
