Americas Tour - Events ahead of the weekend

Daniel Hourcade has made eleven changes to his side for Saturday´s match against the Free State Cheetahs in the Vodacom Cup. Los Pampas XV will be captained by Mariano Galarza while contenders for the Rugby Championship can be found in the backline with Tomás Cubelli and Manuel Montero both starting. The bench contains others likely to feature in the Southern Hemisphere tournament such as Martín Landajo, Bruno Postiglioni and Leonardo Senatore.

Galarza is likely to be a backup secondrow option to the Pato Albacete-Manuel Carizza combination that has been firmly in place since 2010. Both players have been perfoming well again this season in France but Albacete has been given the weekend off to recover from a minor injury. He will miss Toulouse´s match against Clermont Auvergne while Carizza´s Racing Métro will face Stade Français. The future of Carizza is soon to be revealed. he has options on the table and has revealed that he will not be continuing on at Racing Métro next season.

The magnificent try set up by Santiago Cordero against the Baby Boks is quickly becoming an internet sensation. It has made its way onto the page of French site Le Rugby Nistere. Cordero could well be one of the stars of the upcoming IRB Junior World Championship which will be hosted by France. Furthermore it would appear likely that it is just a matter of time before a gitan club from England or France sign Cordero. There has also been calls from Chiefs Super Rugby fans to sign the youngster. Cordero is in the Pumitas team to face the Baby Boks in the third match, to be played on Saturday.

Cordero is set to continue to be moved from the junior team to the seniors and the sevens with him likely to be in the frame for the 2015 Rugby Sevens World Cup in Moscow. Just who will play for Argentina in the une internationals remains far from being clear but there will be a lot of players from the Vodacom Cup. Argentine headcoach Santiago Phelan is in South Africa now monitoring the players.

Argentina´s return as a host of a leg of the IRB World Sevens Series has been delayed until 2015. The delay opens up the possibility for an alternative venue within the CONSUR refined region. This is good news for Uruguay with the URU wanting to secure a leg of the tournament for next season.

The number of USA players to have taken the field in a Super Rugby match almost grew earlier today as James Hilterbrand was an unused replacement for Austrlian franchise the Western Force. The Force faced New Zealand side the Hurricanes in Wellington, losing 22-16. Hilterbrand is Australian born but ellibigle to play for the USA Eagles and has previously been involved in training camps.

The Mexican test team currently in Brazil for a two test series took a day off training after the first test to visit a Brazilian state school on Wednesday. The team was well recieved with the visit helping promote the sport and also to promote cooperation in a country whose global headlines are usually restricted to violence and corruption.

In Chile news for the future of rugby and an increasingly competitive test team grows. With the country set to host the IRB Junior World Trophy in just over a month from now the governor of the province of Antofagasta, Constantino Zafiropulos, has talked about the importance of the competition.

This weekend will see a number of Pumas in action and the Americas will also have Canadians, Uruguayans and USA players in action in Europe. The only region yet to be confirmed as a host nation of a Rugby World Cup continues to contribute significantly to the global game. Of all the players to get a start this weekend one to watch out for is Horacio Agulla who will start on the left wing for Bath against his form club, the Leicester Tigers at a sold out Welford Road. The club had a lot to say about Argentina when it refused to resign Agulla but it has now gone back on its word by signing Agulla´s colleague, Gonzalo Camacho. Agulla will be certain to take it to the Tigers. His younger brother, Belisario Agulla will also be in action as he starts for Agen in a Top 14 match against Perpignan.
