Los Pampas XV starting lineup for opening fixture

Los Pampas XV Headcoach Daniel Hourcade

The twenty-three players to start Los Pampas XV´s Vodacom Cup campaign have been revealed. Earlier today headcoach Daniel Hourcade confirmed the starting lineup and replacements for the teams round one match against Eastern Province. The team is a combination of old and new with two players who featured in Rugby World Cup 2011 in te squad. They will start together in the secondrow with Tomás Vallejos Cinalli having returned from Wales and Mariano Galarza having been named captain. They are joined in the forwards by six fringe Pumas players. The starting props of Bruno Postiglioni and Juan Gómez both got game time against Tier One opposition in 2012 and will be looking to impress given Argentina´s recent production of talented young props such as Maximilano Bustos, Nahuel Lobo and Francisco Gómez Kodela. They should all feature in The Rugby Championship alongside the first choice pair of Marcos Ayerza and Juan Figallo. Hourcade´s starting hooker, Martín García Veiga is another who could have higher honors awaiting him while the backrow is interesting as none of the three are likely to feature for Los Pumas in a full strength squad.  Rodrigo Báez, Lisandro Ahualli de Chazal and Benjamín Macome will start this weekend as the backrow combination.

The backs feature a number of players who are likely to play for Argentina at Rugby World Cup 2015. Of them the starting scrumhalf, Martín Landajo established himself as Argentina´s first choice number nine in 2012. He is well supported by Tomás Cubelli on the bench while Benjamín Madero will start at flyhalf ahead of Santiago González Iglesias and Matías Orlando will not start. Instead the starting centres will be Javier Rojas and Jerónimo De la Fuente. Hourcade has named an exciting back-three that is attacking orientated rather than being a traditional Argentine unit that consists of solid defenders. Manuel Montero has earned game time for Argentina agaisnt top level opposition and in 2012 it would be no exaggeration to say that he could even start in The Rugby Championship. Joining him is Ramiro Moyano at fullback and the highly promising teenage sensation, Santiago Cordero. The complete team is as follows:
