Canada to play in Edmonton, Ottawa, Kingston and Toronto

Twin Elm Rugby Park, Ottawa, Ontario
The governing body of rugby in Canada, Rugby Canada has just confirmed the venues for three of Canada´s home internationals this year. The annual Canada v USA home match will be played at Ellerslie Rugby Park in Edmonton, Alberta on May 25. It will be played at this time to allow the teams time to fit home matches against Ireland into their schedules in June as well as a visit for both Canada and the USA to Japan as part of the Pacific Nations Cup. Canada and the USA will make their debut´s in the IRB organized competition this year and will both host Fiji and Tonga. Samoa will not participate due to the top ranked Tier Two nation instead playing against Italy and Samoa in South Africa as part of a special competition to take place to fill the gap left by the British and Irish Lions tour of Australia. With France visiting New Zealand South Africa is left with no strong team to visit and has sought to make the most out of a bad situation by having three visiting teams.

The USA and Canada will also play twice in July at yet to be confirmed locations and both will also host Ireland in June. The USA has confirmed it will taken  on Ireland in Houston, Texas while it has alos been confirmed that Canada will play host to Ireland at BMO Stadium in Toronto. BMO Stadium hosted the USA in 2011 and Italy in 2012 and succeeded in attracting strong crowds on both occassions. The liklihood of Ireland playing there is strong considering that Toronto will not host either Fiji or Tonga in the Pacific Nations Cup. Fiji will play in the Canadian capital, Ottawa at Twin Elm Rugby Park while Tonga will play at Richardson Stadium at Queen’s University also in the province on Ontario. It will see Canada return to Kingston where it faced the USA in 2012. After playing Tonga Canada will host Ireland in the country´s alrgest city, Toronto before flying to Japan to complete the Pacific Nations Cup.
