The IRB´s weekly rugby show, Total Rugby, has had its first edition of 2013. With the start of the Six Nations and the European Nations Cup the show has returned and it has proven yet again just how important Argentina is to the global game. With the USA Leg of the IRB World Sevens Series fast approaching there was a segment dedicated to Argentina´s previous success in the USA Sevens. Argentina is a two time winner having won the 2004 event in Los Angeles, California after defeating New Zealand in the final and the 2009 event in San Diego with a win over England. On both occassions Argentina was the underdog but went on the win the Cup Final.
The two tournaments also featured players who would go on to be key for Los Pumas in subsequent years. The likes of Federico Martín Aramburu, Lucas González Amorosino, Gonzalo Camacho, Martín Rodríguez Gurruchaga, Francisco Leonelli and Nicolás Vergallo all featured for Argentina at the start or before their international careers had begun at senior level. The 2013 edition of the USA Rugby Sevens in Las Vegas, Nevada could well see more future Pumas emerge.
