While the NACRA section of Rugby World Cup Qualification is all but over there is still a lot of rugby to look forward to in North America in 2013. Canada and the USA are to play home and away to determine who qualifies for Rugby World Cup 2015 as Americas 1 and who will go on to face the winner of the final round of the CONSUR series featuring Brazil, Chile and Uruguay. Both Canada and the USA are all bue guaranteed to play in England 2015. The only real debate is about who will be Americas 1.
Further down the NACRA chain there are a host of nations to keep an eye on this year. While the USA and Canada remain significantly better than all others from the region there are efforts underway to even the playing field between the Tier Two and Tier Three sides. This has seen a regional team from the USA, USA South put together to participate in the 2013 NACRA Men´s 15 a-side Championship. The USA South will face Mexico this Saturday at Life University in Atlanta, Georgia. The winner of the match will advance to face the winner of Jamaica vs Turks and Caicos who will play on Saturday Januiary 26 at Meridian Fields in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands.
Jamaica is ranked 80th in the world and Mexico is 75th. Turks and Caicos Islands do not have a Rankings as the union is yet to become an official member of the IRB. The total number of nations with an official IRB World Ranking has recently incerased to 100. Finalnd remains the lowest ranked nation but four new comers are ranked higher due to the IRB giving new entrants a ranking of 30,00. The new entrants yet to play international rugby counting towards the IRB World Rankings are Americasn Samoa, Greece, Mauritius and the United Arab Emirates.
