Rabo Direct Pro 12 - Round 9 Wrap

Glasgow Warriors 0-6 Leinster
A dull match started round nine of the Celtic Italian League with the Irish province winning a tryless match. Both sides were depleted due to the November Internationals but Glasgow nevertheless had Canadian international DTH van der Merwe in the starting lineup. He missed out on international duty for Canada in November due to injury but he clearly could have faced the All Black Maori´s on Saturday. He was joined in the starting lineup by the USA´s Tommy Seymour who played on the other wing. 

Edinburgh 23-13 Ospreys
A good win for the Scottish side should be some good news for Scottish rugby supporters. The test sides humiliation at the hands of Tonga on Sunday was the resignation of head coach Andy Robinson. The Welsh regions´s chances of retaining its title look to be remote given the high injury count of Welsh international players. The list keeps growing with news that former USA age grade player Hanno Dirksen is out of action for six months with a serious knee injury. 

Dragons 14-3 Connacht
The struggling season of the Welsh region took a boost as the Newport-Gwent Dragons completed a victory over Irish province Connacht. The team, nonetheless remains in 11th position. 

Benetton Treviso 15-16 Ulster
The Top of the Table Ulster won again and this time did so after mounting a come from behind victory. The Italian scored two tries to one but Ulster was abole to pull off the victory. The match featured players from the Americas with Argentina´s Alberto di Bernardo starting at flyhalf for Benetton Treviso and being joined by Franco Sbaraglini who was the starting hooker. Both are from Argentina but have represented Italy as have Ignacio Fernández-Rouyet who was a replacement prop. Ulster also had a replacement prop from the Americas with the USA´s Callum Black.

Munster 6-13 Scarlets
A result significantly influenced by the test matches saw a rare home loss for Munster. Tomás Vallejos Cinalli did not feature for the Welsh region due to his involvement in Argentina´s loss against Ireland on Saturday. The USA born Ronan O´Gara, like the Pumas secondrower came off the bench as a secondhalf replacement. 

Zebre 7-14 Cardiff Blues
Both sides were also without players due to the November Internationals but Zebre still had players from the Americas in action. Former Italian centre Gonzalo Garcia started at inside centre and the USA´s Dave Ryan started ion the frontrow. The Cardiff Blues picked up some valuable competition points.
