Los Pumas secondrower Manuel Carizza was released from Biarritz at the end of rhte 2011-2012 Season. He had been playing for the Basque club since 2005 and had achieved a lot in his time with the Top14 club. The club gavew him the choice of resigning and missing The Rugby Championship or leaving and he put Los Pumas first and left the club at the end of May 2012. He went on to start for Argentina in all six matches in The Rugby Championship, forming arguably the best secondrow combination in the tournament with Patricio Albacete.

There has been speculation of his professional future with a number of scenarios having been made possible. He had been linked to Los Pampas XV for the 2013 Vodacom Cup and a full time contract with the UAR. he had also been linked to Super Rugby with New Zealand franchise, the Hurricanes rumoured to have been interested in signing Carizza. There had also been possibilities of a return to France and this has indeed eventuated with Carizza having been bought in by the Gonzalo Quesada coached Racing Métro as a medical joker. He has been signed to replace the injured Johnny Leo´o with the former Crusaders Super Rugby Champion sidelined with a long term injury. The move will continue to enable the possibility of Carizza playing either Vodacom Cup or Super Rugby in 2013.

Carizza joins fellow Pumas players Alvaro Galindo, Juan Martín Hernández, Juan Imhoff and Juan Pablo Orlandi at the club. All five players are in Argentina´s squad for the three match November tour which starts with a match against Wales at the Millenium Stadium on November 10.
