|Sergio Valdes and Pablo Huete for Pau|
A Rugby World Cup in South America would be more than an event for Argentina. Even if all matches were played within Argentina the event would be for countries in South and North America. Chile is one that would have plenty to gain as the country continues to have a strong junior level team but is unable to transfer this on the senior stage. Chile is yet to qualify for a Rugby World Cup but remains a fringe side regularly ranked in the top 25 of the IRB World Rankings. The country has some professional players and two of them are teammates in France.
Two Chilean international players featured for Pau in a Pro d2 match this past Saturday in France. Sergio Valdes started in the secondrow while Pablo Huerte was on the bench. Valdes is a Chilean veteran having featured in Chile´s win over the USA in 2002. Huerte is a youngster who was a part of the Castres academy last season and also played in New Zealand in 2011 for ITM Cup team Tasman. Pau won the away match against Beziers by three points to move into fifth position. Last season Pau almost won promotion to the Top 14. Pau will host Colomiers on Saturday in a round seven match.
