The final stage of preperation for The Rugby Championship is here! Argentina will play its first of two friendly matches against Top 14 club Stade Français this coming weekend. Due ot the IRB international window´ Santiago Phelan has been unable to play his leading players at all in 2012. As such the UAR took the move to schedule matches against the Paris based club. Stade Français has long been a major part of Los Pumas rugby with five of the starting lineup from the 2007 World Cup Semi Final team playing at the club - Lucas Borges, Ignacio Corleto, Juan Martín Hernández, Agustín Pichot and Rodrogo Roncero.
The Stade Français team to face Argentina this Saturday at Vélez Sarsfeld was named on Tuesday evening. It is a side with many international players- past and present. France will be represented by international players including David Attoub, Pascal Papé, Geoffrey Doumayrou, Julien Dupuy, Julien Arias and Jerome Porical. USA international Scott LaValla will start as will former Australian and South African players David Lyons, Morgan Turunui and Anton van Zyl. Most notably, however, is Felipe Contepomi who will play against his countrymen at flyhalf. It remains to be seen whether the clash of Contepomi vs Hernández will eventuate.
Argentina´ team is yet to be named.
