Canadian international Jebb Sinclair featured this past weekend playing an away Super Rugby match for the Stormers against the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria. He played in his favored position of number 8, playing the full 80 minutes as his side won the match 19-14 in a game with one try scored by each team. Such is the level of Super Rugby that Sinclair was up against countless Springboks. He also had just as many on his own team, underlining the quality of Sinclair. A Canadian playing Super Rugby is a major deal and is a further indication of the IRB´s need to have Rugby World Cup 2023 in the Americas.
The win puts the Stormers on 54 points and the team continues to lead the South African conference and sits in second place overall behind New Zealand side, the Chiefs. Super Rugby will return at the end of the month as it has now been paused for the June international window in which South Africa host England, New Zealand host Ireland and Australia host Wales (plus Scotland yesterday). Sinclair´ country will also be in action with Canada facing Georgia, Italy and the United States of America.
