Argentine´s see Aironi make history

Gabriel Pizarro
The shock of the season surely, as bottom plaed Aironi knocked over powerhouses Munster in Viadana in a Rabo Direct Pro 12 match on Sunday. The game was a postponed match which had been scheduled to be played in February but had to be called off due to unplayable snow conditions. Neither side could claim to have been advantaged over the other as both were missing players to Six Nations duty. Aironi´s fortune was that Argentina´s Luciano Orquera was avaliable after the man expected to be Italy´s Six Nations flyhalf missed the early matches due to injury. Orquera kicked eleven points for the Italians and formed a 10-12 combination with fellow Argentina player, Gabriel Pizarro.  The San Juan born centre scored one of Aironi´s two tries. A third Argentine player, Matías Agüero started in the frontrow and did so ahead of the well regarded former Italian international, Selvatore Perugini.

The win was not enough to get Aironi off the bottom of the table but it means that the team has a real chance of not picking up the wooden spoon as any of the trio of Edinburgh, Connacht and the Newport-Gwent Dragons could finsh below Aironi.
