Tucumán vs Los Jaguares today!

Tómas Cubelli named as captain
The pre-season warm up fixtures continue for Argentina´s best domestic based players with Los Jaguares set to play for the second time in 2012. The first match took place last weekend with secondrower Mariano Galarza captaining the team to a 120-0 victory in Neuquen. Today´s match is against superior opposition with Tucumán being a rugby stronghold in Argentina and the home of the newly appointed captain of Los Pampas XV, Julio Farías. Los Pumas´ World Cup backrower, Farías will not play in today´s match and in his place the team will be led by scrumhalf, Tomás Cubelli of Buenos Aires club, Belgrano Athletic - the former home of Marcelo Bosch. Cubelli will lead a much changed side from the win over Alto Valle with players fighting hard to guarantee themselves a place in Los Pampas XV´ squad, and indeed, the starting lineup for the Vodacom Cup.

Despite many changes the team still has some players of note with the pair of Santiago Guzmán and Gabriel Ascárate both starting. The pair were both close to playing as professional  in France. Tomás de la Vega may well have an international future as Argentina look to adjust to the demands of Southern Hemipshere test rugby in The Rugby Championship. de la Vega looms as a genuine fetcher. Another young player who could shine in the Vodacom Cup is winger, Manuel Montero who has size and speed on his side.

Of the players to face Tucumán five are nown professionals having signed contracts with the UAR on Friday evening.  They are inside centre Gabriel Ascárate, scrumhalf Tomás Cubelli, backrower Tomás De la Vega, secondrower Santiago Guzmán and hooker Bruno Postiglioni.

Today´s match is scheduled for kickoff at 5:30pm.
