When Montpellier signed Lucas González Amorosino from the Leicester Tigers the club completed a coup d´ tat. The size of which has become increasingly known as the current season has unfolded. Having signed for the French side in search for more game time, the Argentine fullback has helped Montpellier turn around its season and he has scored three tries in Top 14 Orange matches in his eight appearances since arriving following Rugby World Cup 2011. He has also been active in feeding teammates as his attacking flair has proven to be a key part of his game. His lattest try came from a Perpignan error in which the Catalans failed to secure a highball. González Amorosino showed great speed to sprint 50 metres leaving three defenders behind after he regathered the ball from the ground and accelerated.
In addition to having proven Leicester wrong for using him so infrequently, González Amorosino appears likely to extend his contract with Montpellier after he told ESPN Argentina that the coach and club are on excellent terms with him and want him to stay.
