USA Eagles backrower, Jonathan Richard Gagiano, commonly known as JJ Gagiano scored trhe USA´s only try in the teams World Cup match vs Australia last September. The South African born player was used by the USA as a replacement with him covering for Nic Johnson who started the teams remaining matches in New Zealand. He is likely to be playing in Rugby World Cup 2015 too as he is still only 26 years old and has the gift of being able to play in all three backrow positions. The clash vs the Wallabies was JJ´s first and only appearance at last years World Cup. It was his 14th test appearance for the United States Eagles after having made his debut vs Uruguay in Utah in 2008.  His try was his second, having previously scored a try in 2009 vs Wales in Chicago.

Aside from playing World Cup rugby, Gagiano has competed in South Africa´s Currie Cup for the Port Elizabeth based Kings and captained the University of Cape Town (UCT). He also spent time playing in Italy for Rugby Roma in 2009. He qualifies to represent the USA through his mother.
