ESPN Brazil: Top 10 plays from Rugby World Cup pool phase

Brazil is a Third Tier rugby team that has come a long way in recent years and is looking like improving more and more ahead of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games which will involve Rugby Sevens. Brazil´s mens and womens teams have both improved and new teams have been appearaing regularly across the country. The major reason for this has been the exposure that the sport has recieved on pay-tv in Brazil. The network which broadcasts the most rugby is ESPN using its two channels of ESPN Brasil or ESPN. The networks employ former Brazilian rugby players to participate in the live comentary and the commentators have a reputation of being extremely educational as they attempt to not only call matches but also to explain exactly what is going on and why due to the complexities of rugby.

The channels broadcasted the majority of the matches from Rugby World Cup 2011 but not all. Preference was given to specific teams - notably those that make up the Six Nations and the Rugby Championship. Neighbours Argentina are well respected in Brazilian rugby circles. The hatred that exists in soccer is not duplicated in rugby as the accomplishments of Los Pumas are well respected and considered as being vital to the future of rugby in Brazil and across the continent. The top ten plays that were nominated underline the sides that carry more weight in Brazil with some tries that were certainly not amongst the best in the tournament being singled out due to which player was scoring more than how good the try was itself. The top ten countdown is, nevertheless, an interesting look at how Brazil sees rugby.
