Ander Monro
Canadian flyhalf Ander Monro had a very good year of rugby at the international level. he helped Canada through an unbeaten season heading into Rugby World Cup 2011. Canada´s wins meant that its second World Cup match vs France in Napier was only the teams first loss of the year. Months before impressing in Whangarei with a  great opening win over Tonga, Canada had competed well in the final ever Churchill Cup. The North Americans reached the final for the second time in as many years. Its first match of the tournament saw Canada defeating Italy A while its second was an official test match counting towards IRB World Rankings with Canada facing Russia. The game was played at Molesey Road in Esher, the home of Canadian internationals Jamie and Phil MacKenzie.

Russia put in a solid match pusing their fancied opponents to the limit before Canada was able to pull clear with a late flurry to complete a 34-18 victory. Russia was very impressive in the backs with fullback Igor Klyuchnikov and winger Vasili Artemiev both scoring frist half tries. At the interval Russia were leading 18-15 but were unable to score at all in the secondhalf.
