Todd Clever scores a great try as Suntory Sungoliath lead in Japan

USA Eagles captain, Todd Clever is enjoying a solid second season of professional rugby in Japan. His club, Suntory Sungoliath faced off against the Coca-Cola West Red Sparks in a Round Six match of the Japanese Top League at the Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Ground on Saturday in Tokyo. Suntory entered the round top of the table as the only team yet to be defeated this season. In a highly entertaining match, involving over 120 points, Suntory Sungoliath smashed the Coca-Cola West Red Sparks 87-35. Shuetsu Narita scored four tries while Australian Peter Hewat scored three from the bench. In total the Sungoliath’s scored thirteen tries with perhaps the best going to Clever.

The Eagles captain played in the 6 shirt for Suntory Sungoliath and was joined by a host of international Japanese players such as Yusuke Aoki, Atsushi Hiwasa, Ryan Nicolas and Koji Taira. Samoa´s Tusi Pisi featured for Suntoray at flyhalf while legendary Australian backrower, George Smith was on the bench as was South Africa´s 2007 World Cup winning scrumhalf, Fourie du Preez.
