Leonardo Senatore scores as Toulon move up the Top 14 ladder

Leonardo Senatore
Toulon played host to Agen in a Top 14 Orange match earlier this evening. The match was to have been played earlier in the season but it had to be postponed as it was abondoned due to heavy rains which left the Toulon pitch looking more like a swimming pool than a rugby field. Due to the packed nature of the season in France and in Europe which means there are no avaliable weekends, especially being World Cup year, the teams were forced to play the match in between two rounds of the Amlin Challenge Cup. Neither side can complain too much however as the LNR had given the likes of Lyon and Montpellier tougher schedules to make up for their lost matches.

Both teams entered the match already well placed with Agen in the unusual position of being in the Top four while Toulon were also well positioned - just behind. Whoever won the match would go ahead of Castres to claim third spot in the French League. Despite both being well up the ladder the match was a one team contest with Toulon dominating Agen to win game 34-12 and claim a bonus point in the process. The game was an important occassion for Argentine international backrower, Leonardo Senatore who scored his first try since becoming a professional player. The Puma has been in fine form for Toulon and has made the teams 8 shirt his own and will likely be signed to a long term contract by Toulon or another side. The game also saw the recently retired English international flyhalf, Jonny Wilkinson playing well as he kicked four penalties. All of Agen´s points came in ther form of penalties. Former Argentine international centre, Miguel Avramovic and the four time World Cup frontrower, Martín Scelzo were both on the bench and entered for the final 19 and 12 minutes of play.
